Ah, probate New Members’ Presentation. My favorite school event to cover, save for the fact it’s 3+ hours long. And you can barely understand what is said half the time. And the spectators, both Greeks and independents alike, getting in your way or complaining that you’re in theirs.
It’s still my favorite, though.
I love NMPs mostly because of the energy. There’s this frenetic tension that’s caused by different things to different parties — anxiety on the part of the new members; excitement from those in the audience who do and don’t know who’s crossing; a power rush for the deans who now get to bring people in themselves — and it sets the room on fire. There’s nothing like it anywhere else, save for maybe homecoming events.
However, I’ve realized in recent weeks that the excitement isn’t much of an excuse for a lack of attribution when others share my work. Getting those who use my pictures to credit me for them on social media is like pulling teeth and frankly not worth the energy arguing about when the easiest thing to do now is watermark my photos.
If you would like to use the non-watermarked versions of the below pictures, please reach out to me via email/social media and we will work something out.
